MEDIA RELEASE 5 October 2016: In a bid to support families in nurturing children from birth to school age, leading education and care provider Gowrie NSW announces it will open a new playgroup this October.

Families living in Erskineville will benefit from the Gowrie Playgroup, which aims to provide a place for parents to observe their child naturally unfold.

The playgroup is uniquely designed to advocate respect between a parent and child and will create opportunities for parents to watch their children interact with others and solve problems, without interference.

“Parents will be supported and guided in sensitive observation by an experienced and knowledgeable facilitator, Mika Mizuno,” Manager of Education and Care, Rose Todd, said.

“The playgroup will provide a place and time for parents to mindfully observe their child unfold, explore or just be within a supported environment,” Ms Todd added.

The playgroup will run for an 8-week term beginning the 17th October, with an information session for each group being held during the week of the 10th October.

Each group will run for an hour on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning at the Lady Gowrie Child Centre, 1 Elliot Avenue, Erskineville and have no more than four children of similar developmental milestones in attendance,

The cost of the 8-week terms running from 17th October until 9th December will be $150.
