The Minister for Early Childhood Education and Aboriginal Affairs Sarah Mitchell officially opened Gowrie NSW Dubbo Early Education and Care on March 3, as part of Gowrie NSW’s strategic intent to have greater reach and greater impact in regional NSW.

Minister Mitchell, who was on hand to unveil the plaque, was joined by fellow politicians the Member for Dubbo Troy Grant and Shadow Minister for Aboriginal Affairs and Regional Development David Harris.

Board members, local media, community members and key friends and partners in the project and of Gowrie NSW were also among the long list of notable guests who came along to celebrate the much anticipated opening.

Gowrie NSW CEO Lynne Harwood said she was delighted to see so many different groups come along and celebrate our exciting, new centre.

“We have had a long and meaningful relationship with the Central West NSW community through our training and inclusion programs so it’s a natural progression for us to establish our latest Early Education and Care centre in Dubbo,” Ms Harwood said.

“The new 50-place early learning centre will help to improve access to quality early education in the region as well as provide programs and assistance to the early and middle childhood sector to overcome challenges and barriers to all things inclusion,” she added.

The modern centre, designed by Daryl Jackson Robin Dyke architects and constructed by Tyecon Pty Ltd, not only provides quality education and care for children and families living in Dubbo and surrounding areas but it will also offer broader program services that promote cultural inclusiveness.

To coincide with our cultural awareness programs, the event also included the launch of Gowrie NSW’s first Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).

“Our RAP will be a framework which explains our organisation’s vision for reconciliation and provides details about how we will truly embed this within Gowrie NSW,” Ms Harwood said.
