Lithgow EEC: Building Respectful Relationships

November 7, 2024

Share

In Term I this year, the children attending on Wednesdays participated in an Intergenerational Playgroup with the residents of Treeview Estates Retirement Village. This program offered a wonderful opportunity to foster connections between generations.

Engaging Activities for Children

Each week, the children engaged in a variety of activities led by LINC and health professionals. From planting a garden and exploring emotions to making healthy eating choices, meeting a trained service dog, creating artwork, and playing games, every session was filled with learning and fun! These experiences helped the children develop new friendships, build confidence, and enhance their social, language, and fine motor skills, all while enjoying the company of the Treeview residents over morning tea.

Positive Impacts on Residents

The residents of Treeview Estates also seemed to find great joy in these visits, with Marathon Health reporting positive impacts on their mental health and well-being. The shared moments and genuine connections between the children and the residents were truly special.

Continuing the Connection

We feel incredibly fortunate to have been part of this initiative and extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone involved. We look forward to continuing this meaningful relationship with the Treeview community and hope to organise future programs to keep these connections growing.
