At Gowrie NSW, our jobs in early education and childcare span educator and teacher roles, childcare centre cooks, management and administration jobs. Each of our team members has a key role in contributing to better the future generation.

Early childhood educators provide a holistic approach to children’s learning and development. Educators inspire each child’s curiosity by setting up learning environments tailored to each child's interests and abilities.

Gowrie NSW allocates one primary educator to each child, to be responsible for and nurture through their most formative years. To advocate for and become highly attuned to their needs, routines and unique cues. They build strong relationships with the child and their family, through their hands-on and observer roles, individually and as part of a wider team.

We believe that our key educator approach gives each child the best chance to thrive within an environment where they have secure attachments.

Fundamental to leading by example for children, successful early childhood educators share some essential skills that work as building blocks in child development.

Technical qualifications should complement soft skills. Such as patience, empathy, communication, critical thinking, organisation, creativity, enthusiasm, adaptability, leadership, active listening, collaboration and relationship building.

Early childhood education (ECE) is formal and informal learning, tailored to each individual child to enable them to discover and thrive in their own unique way. Rooted in the understanding that years 0-8 are a child’s more formative years for development, ECE sets strong foundations for future education.

Both ECE and preschool allow children to learn through free play and structured learning. Preschool is usually for children aged 3-5, whereas ECE is open to children from 6 weeks to school age. The interactive and personalised learning approach for each child is not generally feasible in preschool settings.

Most preschools are school hours care, open between 8:30am-3:30pm, in line with school terms and close during school holidays. ECE is more flexible to family schedules. Gowrie NSW and ACT early childhood centres are open year-round from 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. Our chefs also prepare and provide nutritious meals that promote children’s physical and cognitive growth.

Depending on the type of role, you don’t necessarily need to have qualifications to work at Gowrie NSW. For childcare jobs as an educator, you’ll need an ACECQA-approved qualification or to be studying towards your qualification.

All of our employees hold the necessary protective background checks that allow them to work with children. Working with Children Check (WWCC) for NSW or Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) for the ACT.
