Katey joined the Gowrie NSW Board in September 2022. She has 30 years experience in the early childhood sector, commencing her career as an early childhood teacher in long day care. She holds a Bachelor of Education and Master of Education (Early Childhood). Her PhD investigated the impact of cultural continuity and discontinuity of care giving practices for children birth to three years, between home and the early childhood setting.
Katey has held many leadership roles across early childhood educational institutions, including centre director, head of school for a private college, establishing and leading transition-to-school programs for a state education department and as an academic.
More recently, Katey was the national lead of a large non-profit early childhood provider, responsible for a program of support to teachers across their career lifecycle, prior to her current engagement and impact role in a national education evidence body.
