Event description

Element 7.2.2 of the National Quality Standard states that the performance of educators is evaluated and that individual development plans are in place. An effective performance appraisal system can be a significant tool to help optimise educator learning opportunities.

This workshop is designed to highlight the important role that educator performance appraisals play in an education and care centre.

This session will include:

  • Discussion of the importance of performance appraisals to ongoing quality improvement
  • Exploration of the factors that make performance appraisals a valuable and worthwhile experience for managers, leaders and educators
  • Consideration of a framework for conducting performance appraisals.

Who should attend: Nominated Supervisors and Educators Leaders in all settings

About the presenter:

Jan Faulkner has a Bachelor of Teaching Early Childhood and a Graduate Diploma in Education Management. She has 35 years of experience in early childhood education including as a practitioner, trainer and manager. While working with services in a support role, Jan gained knowledge and understanding of the unique needs of services that operate in rural, remote and regional settings. Most recently Jan has held a management role overseeing the establishment, development, and operation of preschools, long day care centres, outside school hours care centres and family day care. Jan also brings expertise and experience in implementation of the National Quality Framework, funding requirements and service sustainability.
