Event description

Drawing on Gowrie’s experience, this practical session will help your team explore how to include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in meaningful ways in early childhood education and care communities.

This session will encourage critically reflecting on and evaluating the way in which you currently include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education in your setting. Attendees will walk away with helpful suggestions and strategies on how to enhance your service and curriculum to be culturally competent. There will also be a practical, hands on component to the day where participants will make resources and discuss appropriate ways of using them in the program with children.

This 2 part webinar will include:

·         Considering the importance of the National Quality Agenda in relation to education and care and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community

·         Exploring our current knowledge of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history and culture

·         Extending our understanding of history and cultural practice and how this can be incorporated into our services

·         Considering ways to embed our knowledge into every day practice using the National Quality Standard.

·         Making resources and discussing ways of using these resources in the program with children.

The webinars will be held on the following dates:

Date:    Tuesday 19 September 2017 and Tuesday 26 September 2017

Time:    6.00pm – 7.30pm
