Our early childhood teacher jobs require a special kind of person.
Your technical skills are important. You need to hold a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education or equivalent ACECQA-approved qualification. Your knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework, National Regulations and National Quality Standards is vast. Importantly, you are experienced in applying your technical skills and knowledge to achieving outcomes and results for the children in your care.
You will bring a range of theoretical perspectives to inform your work, and consider the EYLF, Gowrie Foundations, the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers, and the UN rights of the child in all program decisions. You will be expected to guide & mentor other staff to critically reflect on their work & build their capacity in the Early Childhood Setting as they contribute to planning, implementing, documenting, and evaluating the play-based program.
But technical skills will only get you so far. To really succeed at Gowrie NSW, you need to take a collaborative approach to your work and enjoy being part of a team. You need to be proactive about your own learning and professional development, seizing on opportunities as they arise. And you need to be passionate about child development and education because that’s why we do what we do.
In NSW you’ll need a Working with Children Check (WWCC) and in the ACT you’ll need a Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration. Current certificates in First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis management are highly desirable.
